Last week (the 4th) left work early because I was wiped and sick. About 2 miles from home I nodded off for a second and when I came too I was heading head on into a utility pole. Jerked the wheel and side swiped the pole, it ripped off the right rear wheel and suspension. I wasn't hurt but my ego was severely bruised.

The insurance company totaled the car even though the body shop said it was a pretty straight forward repair.

On a positive note the insurance company valued the car at $25.8k, I paided $29.2k 2.5 years ago.

The insurance gave me the opportunity to pull all the aftermarket parts I had on the car.

I went to the dealer this past Tuesday afternoon and we searched all dealer inventory from Northern Maine to Southern New Jersey and west to Western NY. I didn't find anything that met my criteria so I ordered a car.

17 Ecoboost Mustang Premium with Performance Package and nav in Grabber Blue. Identical except for the color to my 15. The dealer called this afternoon with a pleasant surprise, the order is scheduled with a 5/8/17 build date and he gave me my VIN. Checked ETIS and the car is there. Based on previous Ford orders the car will get delivered to the dealer about a week after it is built.

The best part is you are okay. The second best part is you're getting a GB! Finally, another one on this forum to help fill out the color thread. :D Ford must be cutting back on doing dealer inventory as they prepare for the 2018's to get such a fast build date.

That could very well be but in 2011we ordered a new 12 Focus for my wife in early May and took delivery 6 weeks and a day. I think it has a lot to do with the dealer to.

I took delivery of my 17 Grabber Blue Ecoboost Premium Mustang yesterday.

Besides the obvious color difference and Sync 3 the 15 and 17 are identical.

However, there are some notable differences between how the 17 drives compared to the 15.

    1. The engine sounds much better than the 15. It has a much smoother sound and and it is much happier operating under 2000 rpm. It sounds good enough that I don't feel compelled to change the exhaust.

    2. The MT82 in my 15 was notchy in 1st and 2nd when cold, I had to change the fluid to smooth it out. The 17 shifts like going through warm butter and shifter is much more solid feeling

    3. The rear end had a slight whining at certain speeds on the 15, the 17 is perfectly quiet at all speeds.

I have already installed the Steeda clutch spring, Ford Racing strut brace and my white retro shift knob.

I am going to wait to I get some miles before installing the other parts I salvaged from the 15 (CAI, Intercooler, tune).

I have a black Shelby Stripe on order along with the rocker stripe. I don't think I will put a scoop on this one and haven't decided on whether to go with a black or body color spoiler. I have a mesh grill my wife got me for my birthday that I never got installed on the 15 so it goes on the 17.

Hey, another GB on the site though sorry for how it came about. I am not surprised Ford made slight changes to the car over two years.
