Anybody running these? Do they fit well on the wheel and if so do they bulge out and/or look funny? I don't like the 255's that came on the tires they look a little narrower than the wheels, I was trying to go for 265's but they are pricier. if anyone has any pictures that would be fantastic
I think you'd be fine. I wouldn't go any higher than a 275, but you will be okay there. It might have a little bulge, but not bad. Internet says max size is a 265 for a 9 inch but you can usually go up one size and still be okay.
275's on a 9" rim are no issue. My autocross tires are 285 on the 9" PP wheels and they fit without issue.
Long ago all tires "bulged" past the wheel and no-one cared. Now with low-profile tires everyone seems to think that making the tire narrower than the wheel is necessary. That's crap. That's why everyone ends up with scuffed rims...
No, they are no louder than the Goodyear F1 Assymetric stock tire. The grip is way better. I actually got to test the wet traction the day I put them on, Cold wet traction too.
I have the Australian spec PP ecoboost. 255 40 19 tyres 9 inch rim. I upgraded to GT rims. 255x40x19 fronts and 275x40x19x9.5 rears. I would like to replace fronts with the same size as the rears. Ie all 4 rims and tyres the same. Anyone else tried this?
I'm running 275/40/19 all around, they're on 19x10 wheels but, there should be no issue running the same all around. If you really wanted to test before you buy, rotate the backs to the front and check for rubbing.
Well my son mounted the tires today. There is a fingers width of space from the top of the tire to the spring perch and a fingers width of space between the side wall and the body of the strut.
Putting those on is easy peasy. Put a piece of horizontal and vertical masking tape to establish positioning for two sides of the emblem. Stand back and eye ball to make sure the emblem will be parallel to the lines of the car (repeat taping as necessary). Take a couple of measurements from a hard reference so you can repeat the location on the other side.
Clean the area with some isopropyl alcohol and stick the emblems on using the tape to locate them. Remove tape and you are done.
Did you try? I think max size for an 9 inch rim is 265, I am about to get new tires on my 9" front and 9.5" rear and also I was thinking 265/40/19 front 275/40/19.
Problem with that table is it does not factor in the aspect ratio of the tire. The lower the aspect ratio the closer to the actual cross section size the rim needs to be.
For example: Tire manufacturers recommend a minimum of a 9" wide rim for a 275/40-19 tire. But, for a 275/50-19 tire they recommend a minimum of a 7.5" wide rim.
