hi, sorry if this is not allowed here but i think you all will appreciate it more than anybody else. let me know if you have any questions.

this is the 1929 model a i picked up in October of 2019
36894

i started by getting it home and cleaned up some

so at this point im just sitting in it making car sounds to entertain myself waiting on my frame to be made.

went an picked up a rusty ford 8.8, i had to narrow it a few inches. the diff is off centered so i just cut the long side down to the length of the short side and used 2 short side axles.

36898

i got a good deal on a chevy v6 and trans so i decided that i would go ahead and use those (i dont)

36899

i got the coil overs, four link, and my frame.

it sat like this for a minute until i was able to order all my front end parts.

then i finally was able to buy more parts. i got front drop axle, spindles, brakes, leaf springs, wishbones, and shocks.

36902

the first step was to split the wishbones and weld ends on them so i can run tie rods. i cut a piece to keep them centered then tig welded them.

then i centered and squared up the front axle. made mounts for the wish bone tie rods to get mounted to, attached to the frame.
36904

with that done i was able to install the axle, spring, and wishbones.

36905

next up was the king pins, spindles, and brakes. then it can be on 4 wheels and roll.
36906

got a vega steering box and got it mounted up to the inside of the frame.

36907

decided to make things far more difficult and expensive, so i went and picked up a 2.3L ecoboost from a wrecked 2015 mustang

36908

i got the engine home and quickly got it set down in the frame. the engine was bigger than i thought it was going to be, fits pretty tight.

will have to get a different steering box because it will hit the alternator.

36913

i picked up a 6 speed out of a nc miata to run

i went ahead and put the grill and shell on to check how it looked on space.

36915

now was the time to put the model a apart.

36916

36917

36918

wood floors are out. body is set on the new frame, looks pretty good in there if i say so myself.

36919

36920

had to get the old frame out of the garage so i moved the model a out and pushed the old chassis out. old vs new

36921

36922

got the engine in its position and started working on the engine mounts.

steering box will definitely have to go

36925

i will have enough room for a fan but not a intercooler, will have to figure that out.

36926

with the engine in place i decided to test fit the hood

36927

found out that a mustang alternator is $500, so decided to try one from a focus. it bolts right up and only cost me $100.

36928

picked up a unisteer box to see if that will clear the engine and it seems like it will work out.

36929

got the trans put in place so i can finish mounts up.
36930

i fabbed up some engine mounts with some dom bushings and off cuts i cut off the wishbones.
