Hi, need help in tracing an oil leak on the back side of the 2.3. I have attached a picture of where I suspect the leak is coming from. Those parts are covered with the black foam. It's not a lot since the last time I cleaned it a month ago when I did the engine support it has just trickled down to the trans bell housing and the foam is a bit damp again. No oil in the ground not even on the top of the filter housing where it is closely located. The oil leak is on the driver side of trans housing. If someone could point out the name of those parts and where it will likely leak aside from the valve cover. I just hope it just an o-ring or something not tight. My oil level is not changing so not too much a concern right now. I just don't want this to escalate to something else. Is it hard to remove the foam? I saw a plastic screw type holding the center top of the foam. Is it ok to remove the foam cover off for a few days after I clean the area to pinpoint the leak? Does anyone have a repair procedure? I have the repair manual but mostly only deal with the 5.0. The car is a daily. MODs are catch can and eibach sportline. I will take a pic of where on the trans housing it leaks. Thanks in advance.

That's the high-pressure fuel pump. The pump itself shouldn't be leaking, but the seal between the pump and the cylinder head could be leaking. The pump is operated by one of the cam lobes, so it gets lubricated from engine oil. I'd recommend looking up the seal between the pump and the head on a Ford parts catalog. They usually have pretty good diagrams of what the setup looks like. I'll take a look at my All-Data shop manual and see if I can find anything. If so, I'll get back to you with that information.
I found some pictures of the high-pressure fuel pump in my All Data system. There is an O-ring that seals the pump in the cylinder head. I've attached a few photos, for your reference.

Thank you. I actually have an aftermarket high pressure fuel pump. The xdi60. It has a base that attaches to the head. The base has a gasket similar to an oring but with a square profile. There called d rings. Mine some how got destroyed during installation while a well known ecoboost engine builder had it. I talked to the company (xdi) and they are sending a new seal. Thank you for your reply.
Oh man...what a bummer. Looks like the seal was installed dry. To prevent this from happening again, lubricate the seal with engine oil.

can you please identify the name of the part in your circle, the larger round part on the left? it's the part with the small flat bracket across the opening.
