Well I had a code P163F pop up. Turns out a solenoid shorted and fried my whole PCM lol.

Got it fixed under warranty despite being modded up.

Within 100 miles of driving it after being fixed...it started shifting weird as if it was slipping. Temps hit 225° and smoked a bit. This lasted for about a minute as I slowed down on to the shoulder. All of a sudden temps dropped, no more smoke or slipping and 300 miles later it's been perfect lol.

I'm thinking maybe air in the lines or a slight overfill as the transmission was opened up to replace a solenoid. Granted i was doing some hard passing right before that weird issue....freaked me out a bit.

I own a 2018 as well, bought new back in January. I have exact same issues as you.

I brought it back to the dealer and they too said nothing wrong....

It is the worst transmission I have ever driven in any car, not just in a stang.

I had traded in my 05 GT with 175,000km on it and the auto trans was way more smoother than the 10 speed.

I plan on going back to the dealer next week as it clunks 3 times when I shift from neutral to drive. That started last week....

I actually have to put the trans in neutral when I stop at lights etc. Its almost like the abs is engaging and trying to slow the car down but its also downshifting as well, just a very jerky trans. Its not even safe to drive in "S" mode with mine. The jerking is ridiculous, yet Ford says is normal.

Hopefully we get a fix soon. It seems like we have the same issues as the trucks had with the 10 speeds in them, yet no update for mustang ones.....
Hi,
New guy here, been following for a year, no mustang yet, my Ranger transmission was a little bumpy at first, got it tuned from unleashed, no problems now.

Funny story, spent all day at dealership finally getting my 2019. Got there at 1pm and drove away at 8:29 pm. After grabbing some food and heading home, my new ecoboost mustang started shifting weird and then the check engine light came on. Someone please reassure me I didn't screw myself with this beautiful car....
I can assure you that after the dealership//ford service makes repairs and or replaces that transmission you will be a "happy camper". I am happy with my 2018 EB AT/

When you test drive the EB I am assuming that every thing was OK? Sure would piss me off to no end if it had happened to me. Reading some of the other posts you guys must have gone through some sort of Twilight Zone thing.

I do hope that when you get this post all has been corrected.

I’ve had similar issues posted here, when changing gears from P to R it would be smooth however when I used to shift from P to D it was make a hard thud occasionally.I also had an issue when transmission would down shift from 3 to 1. After taking to the dealer they had reset the adaptive learning and it’s been working perfectly since.

I recently purchased a new 2018 ecoboost. I’ve been having issues with it when I accelerate and coming to stops. It tends to be lagging and hesitation at acceleration. And when I come to a stop the car lunges forward as it down shifts from gear 3 to 2 to 1. Almost shoots forward into the car in front of me. Not safe. And something I’ve never felt coming to a stop in a car. I brought it to Ford and they ran tests. Said everything is normal. Anyone else have anything similar with their 2018-2019 ecoboost?
I had my transmission go out at 20,000 2018 ecoboost stang. 2nd and 3rd gear went out. put in all new double clutch etc. they rebuilt it under warranty and now it does what you described. more lag than before and when I come to a stop it will down shift and lunge forward like I hit the accelerator when I'm on the brake. I keep my distance. It isn't the same car I bought new but I still love it.

My 2018 eco was having a clunk as well. Took it in a few days ago for 20k service Jan 18, 2020 and they flashed the pcm. They advised There is def a recent pcm update avail for these trans.

DearSpectre71,

No clunks, jerks, or lunging forward when I experienced that Wrench Icon display, just a sense that the vehicle was reduced somewhat in "get up and go", maybe sluggish would be a better description.
That "wrench" display has not returned. I have near 12K miles on it and as I have posted earlier on this forum I was very impressed with the 10 speed AT. Seems like we have different issues, mine may have been self inflicted (as I noted on an early post).
I am practically back to what I had in transmission smoothness after I did an ECU reset using my Cobb tuner. It has been a few hundred miles now and all seems to be back to "normal". I guess it its finally "learning" after a few hundred miles.

But I am going to check in with the dealer/service about that PCM update real soon, as much as I hate going back to dealer/service here where I purchased the 18 EB AT

thanks for the info.

Do you man the ECU reset or the KAM?

I checked with dealer no PCM updates for 10 speed AT. Only for 6 speed AT (trucks)

My 2019 is having an issue when I shift from reverse to drive. It has a few second lag from when I put it in drive to when it actually goes forward. It revs up and then it seems to kick into gear. Does it when I idle in drive and start to go again too.

Mike, take the ecoboost back to the dealership. Issues you describe may not be as simple as transmission fluid, ECU reset or clearing the KAM (keep alive memory)

I'm with Anthony V. on this. If this is regular, repeatable behavior I would strongly recommend a trip back to the dealer and insist that a tech drive the car, with you in it, to see what it is doing. The only time I have any firmness going into reverse is on a cold start, with the revs up, but there is no delay going into reverse, just more firmness, as one would expect. I have virtually no lag going from reverse to drive, far less than the CVT on our 2015 Rogue.

Johnnybee, thanks for bringing up the "cold start". As for me,( call it babying) I start my EB auto and wait until fast idle drops, displaying oil and transmission temperature, with no spirited driving, just nice and easy, until oil temperature reports "normal" and transmission oil temperature over 150. Doesn't take long to achieve either.Took Squid's recommendation some time ago with regard to the engine oil temperature precaution. I find that this auto has a need to have engine and transmission fluids at normal operating temperatures to run perfectly. Like you, I have no delay going into reverse after cold start warmup, with no delay or "lag" from reverse to drive. I don't think I have ever did a cold start and took off like a "bat out of hell", and I don't intend to tempt fate.

I my 2018 eco boost premium lags when coming to a stop. It only happens in low gears but I also hear a thump when shifting from R-D or N-D. When I shift to D it does lunge forward. Definitely isn’t normal because it did I do it 4 months ago when I bought it. Did you find any resolution to it?
