You have a 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty. A transmission service (fluid/filter) would help.
I did make an appt for a service, it has 52K and not sure if/when it was done. Is that tune something the dealer performs, or a performance shop?I also have a 2020 and I heard the Ford Performance tune helps the 10 speed auto.
Thanks, I'll look into that. You can do it but if a dealer installs the tune it will be covered under the warranty.
Great info, thanks! We had the same issue when we bought our used 2019 convertible. It did this intermittently from the day we purchased it and it never seemed to shift as well as we thought it should either. Ford service rep. said that they needed to reset the transmission to original factory settings (his words, see below for info from receipt) and it cleared it all up. At some point we'd like to get the FP tune for it's improvements, but it wasn't necessary to correct this issue. The clunk is completely gone and the trans shifts much better now too.
Prior to having the dealership reset done, we tried the simple reset of disconnecting the battery for a bit and reconnecting, but it didn't make a difference and the service rep. said it was something they needed to do, in this case. Here's the exact info from our receipt.
"Test drove and verified concern. Hooked up to scanner and no codes. Checked TSB's and found TSB 22-2139 for concern. Reprogrammed transmission strategy and performed Adaptive Drive Cycle. Rechecked, operation okay. Test drive ok"
Had my Trans flushed and the dealer apparently did not make sure the trans fluid level in my 6R80 trans was at the proper level. So, new to me, is my 2020 Convertible I purchased in January. After a week or so, when shifting from Park to Reverse, made a pretty hard clunk! Then weeks go by, nothing. Then does it again, so I get a little concerned. Few weeks later, coming to a stop, hard downshift, then a little lunge taking off. Now I'm worried. And I think the P-R is happening more. Any advice or help on that?
