Asking for Honest opinions

Hello. I have a 2021 ecoboost and was looking at purchasing the following mods:

Roush CAI
CVF Race Intercooler Kit
CVF alum. Intercooler Charge Pipes

I would like to know if this would be a good start when it comes to under-the-hood the bolt-ons.

I am currently running some cat back MBRP pipes.

I am also asking for advice going forward with my project. From the little research that I have done so far. It seems best to get the three installed at the same time as opposed to taking it back multiple times.

One more thing, it seems to have a Garrett turbo and I want to know how good it is. I thank you in advance for your feedback.

Sounds like you are headed on a good start to your mods with those three and it is easier to do them all at once. I would suggest an oil catch can and a one way breather oil cap as early mods also. Garrett has made turbos for a long time , my 1999 F350 has a Garrett turbo still running strong.

You're on the right course for the start of your mods with three above picks and I would also do as @Micstang8 suggested and get the catch can and one way oil fill cap breather also to keep oil out of intake and crankcase pressure when under boost in control.

Thats a good start, after those mods look into getting a tuner, especially if you have an auto, tuners make a huge difference even on a stock car.

One thing I will mention is the cold air intake doesn’t do much for performance. An intake will increase intake noise but won’t add any hp. Personally I decided to save that money and I’m still running a stock intake

IMHO the CAI is a waste of money. Spend it on a high-flow drop-in filter for the stock box and call it a day.

I agree kewlwinter, but that might not even be necessary. The 5.0 uses pretty much the same air box and even with our turbos the coyote still sucks back more air than the Ecoboost.

but that’s not a bad idea, I have a k&n drop in filter mainly because it’s cheaper to clean and reuse the filter, it does flow better than stock I just don’t think that the stock filter was holding back the car one thing I think does help is opening up the front grill. I have a diy mesh grill on my car now but before I had just used a grinder to remove the part of the grill blocking the intake pipe. You can see it in this photo, the right side of the grill no longer has the plastic blocking it off.

I have done the same thing with my grill by opening up all the diamonds that are in front of the air box intake snout and installed a K&N free flow filter plus swapped out the eco intake snout to a GT snout with the bigger resonator bulb on it to increase the intake noise a little bit. No added performance with the GT snout but does sound better.

My apologies for the late response and I thank you all for your input. What catch can and one way cap breather would you suggest?
Hey BD,where did you source your GT intake snout?

I'd recommend a an upgraded wastegate. Boost regulation will be key since you have the new intercooler and charge pipes installed. Also you should probably get it tuned as well.

I got it off Ebay and it does not matter if its states for a 2015-17 or 2018 up, they are the exact same. They just want more coin for the 2018 up inlet.

Just bear in mind the difference between the 2 air flows. Your intake flow is to allow your engine to breathe and the flow through the grill is for thermal management, 2 different objectives when you make changes to each. I've routed the back of the GT grills to open them up, though I eventually ended up with the RTR grill for the aesthetics. I was only addressing flow going into the engine.

Hello,

To my understanding, the CAI DOES NOT give the vehicle more HP but it does give the vehicle a quicker response. If that is true, would it still be beneficial to upgrade the CAI? If not, that's fine. I am really trying to gain some understanding. Also, is the BOV functionally beneficial or is it more asthestics?
You hit the nail on the head with both your questions. Aesthetics and noise at this level and application of modification

A CAI will not add any measurable HP gain or quicker response that is measurable on a dyno or dragstrip. The stock airbox and intake tube flow more air than the engine can use at any throttle opening so it's more for visual appearance of under the hood asthetics. A free flow filter is all you really need to improve flow.

The BOV does a job of controlling boost pressure and relieving excess boost on sudden throttle closing to prevent turbo flutter. Aftermarket BOVs look better than the stock one and can be vent to atmosphere type if you want to hear the blow off but the factory electronically controlled one works well with the addition of the Go Fast Bits DV+ kit. You just have to use a factory BOV that has a yellow o ring for the kit to fit, if o ring is orange it will not fit the GFB DV+. Just get a BOV for a 2015-2017 ecoboost to use on 18 plus models.
