will it be safe to run Stage 2 with an intake but no intercooler upgrade? Currently running Stage 1. I understand the system will likely retard timing but will it still give me a safe boost in hp more than Stage 1? Will get an intercooler in the future.

No.

The stage 2 tune is expecting to see the pressure drop and lowered temps from a larger intercooler. Stick with Stage 1 until you get the intercooler.

I don’t think there will be a pressure drop. If anything more pressure as an After market intercooler is bigger. Now.... how does it know I live in Fl with 100 degree temperatures or live in Alaska with 50 degree weather? Yes the intercooler drops temperatures but there will be a temperature difference if I move to Alaska. With the temperature there it will be like if I had an intercooler upgrade in Fl at the end. Not sure if you understand my Lingo.

Its called a ECU that’s how it knows. I understand what you are saying but you live in Florida so the Alaska comparison has no value for you. Why run stage 2 if you know it’s probably going to pull timing what’s the benefit. I don’t see the value of using a tune that you won’t see the full benefits from I think everyone should follow the tuners guidelines and I know Tune+ uses the same guidelines of upgrading the intercooler as Cobb.

Probably end up making less hp on stage 2.

If the stage 2 strategy trys to do its thing and gets unexpected data from the sensors it will pull power, in cool temps at a low elevation it might work ok but playing with tunes without the proper supporting mods should be done with great caution.

Stage 2 increases boost multiplier expecting to see a pressure drop from a larger ic. Not sure if the ecu would overide the multiplier with no drop in pressure or not?? I do know that if the ecu doesnt see what it wants its going to go into protection mode and pull timing, add fuel, and minimize throttle response and boost. I honestly see no sense in the risk.
