Hello everyone! I have a 2018 eco boost and I’ve noticed every time I get gas(running 87 grade) my car starts idling funny like it’s skipping and it only does it a couple times and then it’s fine. I did put fuel injection cleaner in it, and it still did it. I had someone say it’s just a Ford thing. What am I doing wrong?

You may want to try not feeling your car up completely a few times and inspect and service the gas tank fill flap.
PS: I'm not saying that it has anything to do with your 87 grade gas... However, try running at least 89+ octane fuel from a top tier station.

contrary to what alot of people here will tell you, I have run 87 octane in my 2018 eco for 82000 miles and it runs just fine. I even did some comparison runs 0-60 etc with 93 octane and didnt get any better performance. the guy that suggested the purge valve or maybe something in the tank vent system might be to blame

It isn`t what " a lot of people say." it`s what ford says. The car will run fine on 87 but only make about 270 hp vs 310 hp on 93.Thats a substantial seat of the pants difference. And as far as your 0-60 it takes a while for the system to learn the new octane. It isn`t instant.
I can tell a huge difference in my car with 93 vs 87.

before mine was tuned I noticed a difference between 87 and 93, but it takes the ecu forever to increase power. as far as I know the car compensates for the lower tier fuel using the knock sensor

im tuned for 93 now so I would run into issues running anything lower without reflashing, But a 40 crank hp bump for $5 bucks more at every fill is not bad at all

I agree with the guy that suggested the purge control valve. My 2017 started doing that and progressed to a MIL and a P144C code. I bought a valve and haven’t had time to install it and the delay has caused other weird running issues and another DTC pointing to the purge control valve.
