How to build boost faster?

706 Views 11 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  viper416
Hi guys, I’m running a 2019 ten speed auto eco with all the typically bolt ons with an e30 tune and high flow downpipe dump. Whenever I launch the car from a stand still it feels like it takes FOREVER to build boost even if I’m launching from high rpm’s. Also the car doesn’t feel like it has as much response as I’d want when driving normally. There’s no issues, it’s just I have such greed for going faster lol! I was wondering what else I could possibly add or do to my car that could make it build boost faster. Thanks!

You need a tune. Also, can we assume you have upgraded the IC?
With a twin scroll turbo you shouldn't have much issue with building boost earlier unless you have a problem. However the power delivery is very linear, not on off like the classic turbos. I would consider a turbo upgrade if everything else has been done.

Tuned by PD on e30 and have cvf IC

Yup, I was planning on either BNR600 or 500. Looks like I’ll just wait till that to see if I can feel any more kick. Thanks!

Can you post a data log for us to look at? Maybe one of us can spot something on your log sheet that will help you out!

Sure, tomorrow I’ll try and get a fresh data log and see if I can figure out how to post it

I think i know what he is talking about, i feel mine with bolt ons stock tune the car was sporty in the pedal and gets weaker as you go 3/4 or so.
Tuned is feels weaker on throttle until you get 3/4 into it or floored then its balls out.
Seems it doesnt want to downshift unless going 3/4 into the pedal where untuned it will downshift better. Mine i can be at 60 in 4th gear hit a turn slowing to 25 and it will stay in 4th all the way to 60 unless i near floor the car. Theres no mild sporting anymore its slow and balls.

I have the upgraded wastegate from Tuneplus and tuned on 93 and E85. When flooring it hell yes car is crazy faster, just seems gotta be mild or balls only 2 options.
I didnt notice this when tuning. But i ended up with a leaking gasket at just under 5yrs so i got a free new short block from Ford.
I expected to get in car and it be lethargic but it seemed quite peppy with no tune just the bolt ons.
After flashing tune thats the feeling i get in the car now. It was better untuned i think. I could give it some pedal have a little fun wiggling the rear end around scare my fellow drivers on the road. Now i can only go slow or balls out lose the rear end scare myself. Its like theres no middle.

I know just remove the tune, but swapping the wastegate is a real ***** especially with catch can in the way now.

I am tuned my Ryan also basically same setup, I can footbrake and given enough time can leave on 8 to 13 lbs of boost. You can also use the transbrake to build boost. I stopped using transbrake cause the trans started acting up. But 11:66-11:70 on the tbrake and 11:7’s to 11:8’s on footbrake. Trading her in though. But getting a 2023 model. Updated block design and updated connecting rods. Starting all over again. Maybe not so radical on Bolt on’s. Stay in the 12’s this time
