Low Fuel Pressure Sensor?

It's a shame you already took it in. The part is right on top of the engine near the firewall, super easy to get to, and the "diagnosis" probably consisted of them plugging a code reader into the OBD port. I don't know if they have a minimum of one or two hours but whatever it is don't let them charge you more than that.

Good theory. I would be extremely interested in seeing that fuel line.....
@BossJay please ask for the parts back. No need to make a fuss, just get them back. There is a nonzero chance that it was a legit repair but without them you won't know. I just had to spend $1500 to fix a problem that didn't throw a CEL after I spent $2k to fix a problem that did throw a CEL but was not what was causing the surging and hesitation that brought me to the shop in the first place on my old RAM van. They showed me the blown out part and explained what was going on and all I could do was write the check. Coincidentally it was part of the turbo system but as ignorant as I am about petrol* diesels are a whole 'nother world.

That being said, if they tell you that your blinker fluid was low then you might want to contact a lawyer. Also next time you get a CEL head over to your local autoparts store, pull the code, and then ask the nice folks here before you bring it in.

*as ignorant as I am about the problems that petrol engines have, diesel engines are a whole 'nother world. i.e. the little I have learned about the 2.3 Ecoboost in the past year and half has given me very little insight into the nuances of the Mercedes 2.7 diesel.

The info about this sensor where the internet blew up (pun intended) happened because a tuner was having engines he tuned blow up. He blamed it on this sensor. He said it was not his fault. It has now been regurgitated so many times it must be true :). Has anybody proven that this so called new sensor is improved. Not that I know of. The part number you get as a replacement is from Motorcraft, a different division of Ford. Maybe the reason for the part number difference. This sensor is also used in other models. What would happen if a lawyer caught wind of Ford knowingly putting in a sub par part when an improved part is availale. This hasn't happened. Now I'm not saying this sensor cannot fail. If you have symptoms or engine code then replace. But just to replace a part because I don't recommend. I've worked in mulitple service industries (consumer electronics, medical catscanners x-ray, data center backup power supplies and forklift, all hands on service repairs) and will not just replace a part because. I need data/reason to replace a part. Now the original sensor in my 2015 is still working as expected and will not be replaced.
I believe everything I read on the internet, even the stuff that contradicts the other stuff.
