If the previous owner had coolant issues and packed the system with stop leak, the coolant flush may clear everything out. Then it will really leak bad and you shouldn't have any issues proving you need a new head gasket.

Good idea. Intresting thought now. I have driven the car home. ~40 miles. Inspecting the car warm, the coolant has risen above the max line. Maybe 2-3 cms over

Just a thought;

If it is still underCarMax warrantee but they won't do anything then take it to a dealer where they can pressure test it and check for head gasket leaks. If they document troubles then you can take that written documentation to CarMax and pressure then to pay for repairs.

Yes I'm now aware. I've made an appointment with Ford and will get that checked in march. Till then I've been watching my coolant levels and checking my oil for milky lookalikes. I changed my oil last weekend and the oil just looked old, no sign of coolant mixed in. Which is great. But will still use this opportunity for CarMax to cover my bill to make sure my car stays on the road for as long as possible.

UPDATE: I went to the appointment and checked my car in. They took a look and left it under a pressure test all day, then called me to say I am in fact losing coolant but there are no leaks on the floor and told me they're going to take apart the motor the following day. When they did that, they called back and told me cylinder 3 is collecting the missing coolant, and need to consult with Ford to ask about the way to get it repaired. But gave me back the car as it's a minor leak and a low risk in its current state. So I should get an update wither today and tomorrow and get that repair rescheduled soon. Thanks for everyone's help in this thread!
