You'll never get a 4 cylinder turbo to sound like a v8. There are some good sounding exhausts out there -- do a search in YouTube for ecoboost exhaust to hear the sound of a lot of 'em.

Check the vendor sections on the forums, a lot of them have videos and sound clips of exhausts -- I know that CJPP and I believe that FSWERKS does as well.

That being said, I think I'm going to go with the Ultimate racing single cat-back exhaust. I really like how that sounds.

What exhaust can I use to make my Eco boost to sound like a muscle car?
I DON'T THINK THAT THE ECOBOOST MUSTANG IS ANYWHERE NEAR BEING A MUSCLE CAR. I WENT FROM A MUSTANG GT TO THE 2018 ECOBOOST AND I HAVE NO ISSUES WITH THE ECOBOOST EXHAUST SOUND. I LIKE TO KEEP IT QUIET AND STEALTHY. I JUST LIKE THE 2018 ECOBOOST'S GET UP AND GO.

Even the Mustang GT does not sound like a muscle car. With only 5 liters of displacement it will never sound like a car with a 6 liter or larger v8.

Go to a cruise night and search out a car with a 500 cubic inch (8.2 liters) or larger and listen and you will then understand the sound of a muscle car.

This is an old thread, but what the heck, I'll join in. I agree that you will never get a 4cyl to sound like a V8. You can make it louder and raspier, but deep and aggressive ain't going to happen. The big thing you have to also consider is the exhaust system drone. Nearly every 4 cyl exhaust delivers some drone while at cruising speed.

Another thing to remember is that exhaust sound is very subjective from individual to individual.

I'll probably go with the Rev9 which is reported to be pretty darn quiet under power, yet deeper and more throaty at an idle. It does get rid of the resonator thus dropping the weight of the exhaust by what I have been told is about 40 pounds. The road block I keep running into when I go to order the Rev9 exhaust is that it cost the same as a payment on my Mustang. When I go to hit the "Buy" key on Amazon, I end up going over to the payment link on my Mustang and making another payment. Down side being that I still don't have a nice free flowing quiet exhaust, Upside being that I am way ahead on my car payments.

One last thing to consider, are you looking for a sound that others outside of your car can hear, or a sound of throatiness that you can hear? If it is for others to hear don't waste your money trying to impress others...…...it ain't going to happen. If this is for your ears that desire the sound of impressive Ecoboost power as music to your ears, then buy the Ford Performance Calibration Pkg. After you install the tune and intake (which is the same intake as on the Mustang 350) the piped in exhaust sound of the stock Mustang will be deleted. However, the deep growl of the intake as it sucks in massive amounts of air is beautiful music all of its own. The extra power of the FPCP is a bonus for less than the price of most aftermarket exhaust systems.

Cutting off the piped in fake noise is easy. Just pull down the headliner in the back and unplug the microphone on the ceiling.

Right now I have the MBRP street catback. It's lightweight, cheap, breathes well, and sounds better than the stock exhaust, but not wake-the-neighbors loud. I've been listening to soundclips and really like the sound of the Magnaflow street catback, and the Cobb exhaust sounds pretty good too; they're both a lot deeper than what I have now. I'll probably keep the MBRP through one more winter of salt and snow, then think about upgrading it next year.

I did that on both my 15 and 17 Ecoboost and all it did was make the interior louder, the weird engine noises were still there. But when I installed the FP tune on my 17 the weird engine noises stopped.

Based on everything I have read the only way to turn off the fake engine noises is to use FORSCAN or the FP tune.

I love the MBRP XP Street, good sound, not raspy and good tone no Drone when cruising.

I have Cobb catback with Cobb mufflers. Everyone who has ridden in the car complements the sound. It makes a real sweet noise from 4-6000 rpm. I have no idea how to do a sound clip.
Good to know. That's what I'm leaning toward now.

Hey i know I'm late on this, but what exactly was done for you to get that? Any deletes? What exhaust did you buy? I'm new to the game and I like the way this sounds.

That’s not totally true..it all depends on if your willing to spend 3-4k on a equal length header system with is half the length of the car..
