Hi all,
I just purchased my ‘19 MTX and had a question about the transmission performance in cold weather. I have noticed that when temps drop into the 30’s or below the transmission gets very notchy. Besides the notchy feeling occasionally I can almost feel the gears engaging with each other. They don’t grind, but I can feel the rattle/pulse just before the shifter seats all the way into gear.
Since I am new to the car I am not sure if this is normal for the trans or not. It would definitely make shifting quickly fairly difficult. If this is normal, has anyone found that changing to a different fluid has helped?
For reference I have a ‘94 SHO MTX and it shifts better/smoother. Just thinking that a brand name trans that is 25 year newer tech would be a lot better.
Thanks for the help. I kinda want to educate myself on it prior to taking it to the dealer and saying it isn’t shifting correctly.
