Market Effect of S650

Seems like I'm always posting noob questions in here, but here's a noob buyer question. Do you think the S650 rollout has already affected S550 prices, or will S550 prices decrease further later in the summer once S650s hit the streets?

My baby got wrecked yesterday (not at fault) so looking for another S550. Undecided on eco or GT, but not sure if I should start hunting now or try and hold off for a bit.

Ouch! Sorry to see the damage, but glad you're OK.

I think the folks who genuinely want the S650 have already ordered theirs. Honestly I don't think they've had much effect on prices yet.

The choice really is: do you like the interior/exterior of the S650 and want that? If so, then put in your order now. Or do you prefer the styling and interior of the S550 and want another one?

Gotcha, thanks for the input, definitely sounds like a solid assessment. For sure staying in an S550 for now. Bought my eco shortly before car prices started to decrease last year so trying to be more calculated this time around haha.
I don't see prices for new or used cars going down anytime soon until interest rates and inflation are under control and back where they should be IMO.

If anything, prices of S550's are up in my area. My car, the last of the S550's is gonna end up a super low number spec, if anything I see it holding its value for a long time to come. Especially because of rumors of Ford having "quality" issues like bad valvetrains, body panels not lining up properly and other not so "Quality is Job 1" shortcomings on the S650 rollout. Did I mention those orders are now delayed more than a couple months? Keep your S550, especially if you have a desirable color combination or a numbered chassis car its a future collectible in my opinion.

Lol exactly the same rumors where heard when the S550 was due.

But yes again here the Ecoboost has held it value well.
I do not particularly like exterior, and really dislike the screens f the interior of the S650, plus I have a Royal Crimson car, so no replacement in the cards for me.

I feel the same way about them. I think the outside looks decent, but I still think the 15-17 cars look the best. But the interior looks lazy to me. Maybe it looks better in person but from pictures it just looks like 2 computer screens slapped on the dash.

not to mention the first little while flashing the ecu won’t be possible.

but like all cars once there is a new bodystyle out the old one drops off in value pretty quick.

That '18 only color will help it hold more value than if it were any other color from '18. For sure. I also feel the same about the S650. Exterior is growing on me more pictures and video I see, but the huge flat video game screen interior is a hard no for me. So is the fact the ECU is locked from tuning, yet another hard no.

Get you one of these bad boys. LOVE mine. Prefer it to my old 2008 GT by far. Quicker 0-60 and way better handling. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inven...dEntity=d2#listing=350100074/FEATURED/DEFAULT

As for pricing, I'd say most are still WAY overpriced (20%+), but, there are deals to be had. Got my HPP/HP 2020 with 4800 miles only for $29k.

even better deals on the 15-17 cars. only year to avoid is 2015 ( no sync 3, potentially not as reliable ) when i bought my 16 back in 2021 even with peak covid car inflation i only paid 25k cad ( ~19k usd )

Yeah you are right about that. And those cars you can mod right away bc no factory warranty.

plus they look better, my opinion anyways. And gt350 / gt500 replica bumpers fit up to they way better than the 18+ cars. If you’re getting a manual it’s the same trans, if you want an auto the 6r80 is still a great auto and spends less time hunting for gears than the 10 speed does.

and most of the things you would want an 18+ car for can be swapped in. Like the digital cluster, sync 3 can be upgraded way past what Ford lets you with cyanlabs updater.

lots of reasons to go with a 16 or 17. Obviously I’m biased but I chose my 16 instead of getting something newer, not saying the 18+ front end is bad but I genuinely thing the 15-17 front end is better.

I agree with you on the front clip looks being better, but the reason I waited and bought my '18 was the hoodline felt like it belonged more in a Crown Vic when sitting in the captain's chair on the new '17 I drove. Really felt no different than sitting in my Crown Vic, which at that time I had one as a work car/daily ride. I liked that slope on the '18 hood much, much, much better, and got used to the front end looking more catfish like (I've also owned a couple 4th gen. Z28's so I didn't mind cars that had catfish snouts LOL).

Yeah I'm with you on the front end, but, I much prefer my front end on the HPP, though.
