You can change the brightness level of the ambient cabin lighting. Read the manual. :)
Its done through the SYNC settings if you have the touchscreen.

Mine isn't super bright either. It's just one little bulb in the footwells, not like a full led strip or anything

Certain colors aren't as bright either ie red

You wouldn’t want anything too bright as it might throw up glare on the inside of the windows, reducing outward visibility. I set mine on red and haven’t changed, that being good for night vision.

I use red for the ambient lighting, but use blue for the dash lighting.
I find for some reason that at night, red dash gauge lights tend to make the gauge data a little blurry to my eyes, whereas blue light makes them sharp and easier to see.
An eye specialist told me that different color wavelengths react differently in people depending on their individual color receptors in their eyes, not sure if this is true or not?
