Meet Mr. Grinch (he's a mean one, LOL)
Made the trade today. Swapped my '21 HPP/HP Shadow black 6 speed for a brand new '23 HPP/HP Eruption Green Metallic A10.
Also took advantage of it being the way I wanted it and got the ceramic seat color. Stayed with the 101a package, other than that she's not heavily optioned.
It was a custom order I put in back in early October, so kudos to the the guys at Ford who got it built and delivered in a little over 9 weeks!
Gosh is this new green nice! Gonna be so much easier to keep clean looking for longer!
This is my 9th Mustang. Bought my first one, an '85 GT 5 speed t-top car back in 1990, so this journey with Mustangs continues!

I really like those wheels on it, they go very well with the eruption green paint. The weather looks nice there today, kind of deceiving for what is about to roll thru there soon.

Glad you got to enjoy it some before putting to bed for the winter.

Thanks man! Yeah, I really like these Ford wheels. They remind me of the PP2 spec one's, just not quite as wide.

Took a couple more garage pics after getting first coat of ceramic coating on. (I'll be doing 3 coats over the next couple days). This is a lovely shade of green! The car looks like it plugged into an electrical outlet and glows, photos just don't do it justice by I tried. Anyone on the fence about this new green color, don't be, its nicer in person than any photo!

I didn’t realize the 2023’s were out yet! Ordering on the Ford website still shows 2022. I just got my special-ordered 2022 less than six weeks ago.

What is your HPP number? Must be pretty low!

It is very low. Which makes me happy! It is: P0027 The production run for the special ordered '23's were less than 2 months. I think I stand a decent chance of this one being considered a fairly rare car someday since a lot of HPP's don't also come with the Handling Package also.

this is very true, i wonder what the market would bring for these rare models in say 20+ years. i would always keep mine and just buy additional Mustangs as wanted.

Well they made 26k Mach 1's in 2021. They made roughly 3k HPP Ecoboosts. With the prospect of the '23 Mustang being a roughly 1/2 model year (like the 64 1/2 was) due to the incoming S650 and a roughly 2 month custom order window now closed for the '23's, my guess is The EB HPP will be the rarest form the Mustang takes in '23 (take that V8 only guys who look down on us). And one with a Handling Package, will be super rare if you look at raw numbers. Some quick math on my '21 as optioned, with HPP/HP, 101a, 6 speed in black made it one of around 100 cars just like it made in '21. My guess for my '23, it ends up as one of a dozen or two because of the lower production numbers, and the fact I ordered it again with Handling Package as well as a new color (Eruption Green Metallic) which ended up also being a "late production" color choice for the '22's when they were being built. So I like my chances for mine to be a pretty rare car. 20 years ago 400 Terminator Cobra's were made in Competition Orange, today those cars fetch a premium price over all the others. Sometimes to the tune of 10k more on average. So I like my chances...too bad, at 53 years old, I'll likely have to wait roughly 20 more years to find out if I'm right. LOL. But with that said, I think I'll be going back to owning 2 cars again soon to keep this one always in the garage, a car that's never gonna see snow yet alone a rainy day.

Ahh. So they did skip the “O” prefix. I thought they would.

Yeah, the handling package in my opinion is worth it for the wheels and tires alone. And then of course there’s the handling! I can barely get mine to slip coming off the freeway onto a corkscrew exit ramp. Unbelievable road-holding.

yes indeed! Handling pack is def worth it, ties into the whole car very nicely.

For those not as familiar as we are, as owners, for anyone else reading this, here a link from Ford Authority as to how to interpret the unique chassis # id when owners speak about it. https://fordauthority.com/2022/09/m...pack-heres-what-the-number-on-the-dash-means/
It appears Ford did skip "O" for 2023 and went with P to denote the year.
If anyone else is wondering, reading this, I posted a picture of my cars build sheet on purpose with this thread so you can see what the extra money gets you if you step up from HPP into the added Handling Package (denoted HPP/HP by owners usually). It also adds the front Brembo's as well as the Magneride.
Now back to what you said @Gooch, at low speed merging onto an exit ramp with a Mach 1 directly in front of me, the Mach 1 never started pulling away from me until I shifted into 3rd gear (my '21 was a stick). That extra 100 wheel horsepower really makes that a thing, but everyone knows that already. Once tuned, my '21 running a Stage 1 OTS thru my Accessport, would likely stay on or very close to the rear bumper of a stock Mach 1 on a short track. The only place the Mach 1 has any advantage against an HPP/HP Eco is down the long straits where the added horsepower takes over and seizes the day. For 20k less than a base Mach 1 and nearly 30k less than a nicely equipped Mach 1 with its Handling Package, our cars are performance bargains (especially when you apply the usual simple bolt on's racer techniques like tuning, air intake tube, suspension adjustments. I was stunned the first time I did any aggressive driving in my '21, it handled like it was attached to rails, and felt so much lighter than my previously owned base '18 GT in corners.

Although I haven’t driven a Mustang without Magneride, my guess is that Magneride is what makes it stick like glue in the corners while still allowing you to go over speed bumps like a normal passenger car. It appears that you can have the best of both worlds in this case.

The only thing so far that I really don’t like about this car is that the climate control constantly switches my air from recirculate to fresh without my permission! If I could hardwire that thing to stay on recirculate, I would.

My truck has a manual lever for that and that’s the way I like it. :)

I'd have your dealer check out the climate control when you get time. It shouldn't be doing that. Yours also a 101a car? dual climate/9 speaker stereo with larger screen?

Actually, I read that a lot of people have the same problem. Looks like it’s Fords in general, maybe a lot of new cars in general. My buddy has the same problem with his F-250 as well.

BTW yes 101a.
I just looked it up, I think its in the cars manual, page 119 I believe. Seems that is the way its set up, for humidity control. So unlucky you, it seems to be just fine and like HAL9000 its gonna force you to comply like it or not. Maybe if your name is Dave that reference would be even funnier? LOL "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that."

Hah. Yeah.

Doesn’t seem to do it on A/C but definitely on heat. I smell exhaust and look down and DANG, it’s set to fresh again.

Seems like a waste, but maybe I have to click the A/C button on while running the heat to keep it from pulling fresh air in.

Oh, and I looked and there doesn’t appear to be a way to disable it with Forscan.

If you don't already do so, try running it in full automatic mode, in that mode I believe it switches back n forth between fresh and circulated air itself. So at least you won't have to keep messing with the buttons while you drive. How long its on a setting you like will still be up to it and the humidity level though. So yeah, the HAL9000 reference seems even more fitting now. LOL
