The 2019 Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals is celebration capping off the Time Trials National Tour. Like the tour events, the year-end event will include on-track TimeAttack and TrackSprint sessions, the welcome party, Hagerty All-Participant party, and of course partner booths and social fun throughout the event. Unlike the Tour events, instead of two days, the Tire Rack Time Trials Nationals is a three-day event and adds the Holley Performance Day as a no-charge option for Time Trials Nationals entrants on Thursday. Camping at the track is encouraged, friends and family are welcome and food and drink are available on site.

FAST FACTS

ON-TRACK, drivers will tackle various configurations of the NCM Motorsports Park during the event. Final schedule is in the works, but there will be practice sessions on Friday, a TrackSprint Saturday and Sunday morning and two TimeAttack sessions Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The best time from each TimeAttack session plus the best run of each TrackSprint will be combined to determine finishing order and the top three in each class and overall stand on the KONI Podium and take home the trophies.

In addition to the three days of Time Trials Nationals, included in your entry fee is the optional Holley Performance Day on Thursday when there will be on-track lapping, car-control instruction on the SCCA Starting Line Course, chalk-talks with industry leaders including Apex pro and Racers360 and our coaches to give you tips on getting the most out of your car at NCM Motorsports Park.

Good afternoon Time Trials Nationals Drivers!

We’re just under a month away from the second annual Time Trials Nationals event at NCM, and the whole team is hard at work to ensure we deliver the best possible (and most-fun-yet) SCCA Time Trials event. Today, we’re sharing some important updates on the event schedule, scoring and the addition of a Classing Review, as well as an exciting offer for you and a friend.

Schedule
First up, we’ve published the event schedule on the website, which you can find here. Of course, it’s subject to some tweaking between now and then but, if you attended any of the National Tour events this year—or last year’s Nationals event at NCM—you’ll notice a few differences. That’s because we’ve taken what we’ve learned over the past year, added in a few ideas we want to test for next year and made a "best of" schedule.

Friday will give drivers three 20-minute practice sessions each, and set grid times for the first Time Attack sessions. We’ll switch gears Saturday morning to run a timed TrackSprint, which promises standing starts and flying finishes on a thrill-filled section of the course (we're keeping the exact section a surprise, though). Saturday afternoon you’ll get your first two Time Attack sessions at 20 minutes each. Then on Sunday, we’ll split run groups in half to give you two 15-minute sessions with half the cars. Yep, half the cars.

For those of you doing the math, that’s more than two hours of track time. And, that doesn’t include all the time you’ll get if you join us for Holley Performance Day to get a leg up on your competition. We’re still ironing out details for that jam-packed, no-cost-added Thursday, so keep an eye out for more information coming soon.

Scoring
It’s pretty simple, actually. We’ll take your best TrackSprint time and add it to your best one-lap time from Saturday’s Time Attack sessions. Then we’ll add in your best lap time from Sunday’s two sessions. The combined time from those three will give you your final score. The top three finishers in each class will stand on the KONI Podium and take home the trophies (and bragging rights, of course).

Classing Review
We’re excited for this addition to the program! We’ve had some questions about definitions and classing this year, and we want to make sure that you head into competition with clarity on the rules and confidence that you’re running in the right class. So, we’ve created a Classing Review. Everyone gets to do it, and we’re confident it’ll be pretty quick. We’ll take a look at your car with you, and you can pick the brains of our on-site classing and rules experts if you have any questions (and who doesn’t with a new program?). Don’t worry, both Classing Review and safety tech will be open all day Thursday and Friday, so you’ll have plenty of time to get it all done before you take to the track Saturday morning.

Bring a Friend
And, finally, we have an unbeatable offer for you and a friend. We’re on the hunt for some folks to join us as off-track participants. If you know anyone who has ever wanted to try flagging or timing, or help in registration or with technical inspections—or anything else, really—this is their chance. They’re welcome whether they have lots of experience or none at all. The best part? If you bring someone along, we’ll give you both a free entry to any Time Trials National Tour event in 2020. Can’t beat that! Just have them sign up here (hint: it’s free!) and give us your name on the last question. We’ll take care of the rest.

That’s it for now! We’ll be emailing you a few more times in the next month to make sure you have all the details you need to make this event the best one yet. In the meantime, if you have any questions, just fill out the form on this page and we’ll make sure you get the answers you need.

Looking Forward,

-h
