Hello, first time poster here. I purchased my 2020 Ecoboost this past July and I’m very happy with the vehicle aside from the problem with the audio I’m going to describe.

When playing music through my iPod or IPhone the sound will randomly cut out and I will have to push the media button and select the device again. Some of the times it does this I will get the low power warning, in those instances the sound comes back after about 10 seconds.

In September I had an after market budget system installed by a local professional. It’s the Skar 8” Subwoofers and Amp combo. I also purchased an AudioControl LC2i Pro 2-Channel Line Output Converter to go along with it.

Everything I’ve tried has failed to rectify the problem. I found out how to reset the system by pushing power+seek for 5 seconds and that doesn’t help. The Amp is not very powerful and I have a hard time believing it’s too much draw for the battery. There are times where the system will cut out at numerous intervals during the course of only 1 song.

If anyone has suggestions on how I can fix this problem it will be greatly appreciated. It gets very frustrating when the audio randomly cuts out repeatedly. Please let me know if you need any more information about my car or the audio system.

Thank you.

Is your SYNC software upgraded to the latest? Some of the software versions had annoying or inconsistent behaviors that are remedied by updating to the latest version.

I have been attempting to update the software since I read your suggestion a few days ago. For whatever reason the download is going incredible slow. When it finally completes updating I will let you know if this fixed the problem. Either way thanks for suggesting it!

😂

Do you think it’s actually Apple related? My iPod has been to hell and back in the 10+ years I’ve owned it and still works fine outside of the vehicle. I use it more for the music in my car directly through the USB connection.

I'd certainly try another phone & see if its different. I had several iPhones over my ownership of the car & Sync seems more reliable with the Pixel but it may just be the cable/port/phone connection, assuming you're connecting via cable, (I'm now using the Motorola MA1 for wireless connection) is worn and disconnects for a moment and needs reconnecting to Sync.

The problem is NOT the iPhone, unless the OS is majorly behind on updates. I've had a 2015 EB PP w/SYNC3 conversion, 2018 EB Premium w/SYNC3, and currently my wife's 2016 V6 w/SYNC3 conversion and my 2022 EB Premium w/SYNC3 with NO issues that weren't fixed by updating the SYNC software to latest and greatest. The only issues I ever had were with earlier versions of SYNC; notably the intermittent phone connectivity, and lists that you had to scroll randomly jumping back to the top of the list. Cables will also be a factor if you are using cheap China knock-offs instead of Apple-certified cables, especially the longer ones.
