This event has two options for participation. The first option is a Track Event (formerly called PDX), and a Time Trials (formerly called Club Trials). It is being run using the SCCA rules for a level 2 Track Event, and held on the Motorsport Ranch 1.7 configuration running counter clock wise . SCCA Track Events (TE) are designed to concentrate on driver enjoyment, philosophy, and the application of performance driving techniques. Track Events are non-competitive - participants do not receive lap times. SCCATime Trials (TT) events provide a constructive learning environment that stresses proper driving techniques, while at the same time offering lap times. This event offers both Track Event and TimeTrials options for participants.

Additionally, in 2018 Texas Region SCCA is offering a Time Trials Championship series, where points are earned for each Time Trial throughout the year.

This event has two elements - Track Event and Time Trial. Please choose the correct element during the registration process:

  • The Track Event (TE) element is open to novices with little or no track experience. TE drivers will have an instructor assigned to them for the day.
  • The Time Trials (TT) element is a timed event (SCCA level 2 Track Event), with the option to participate in the 2018 Time Trials Championship Series.
    • Driver qualification for Time Trials will be as follows:
      1. Hold a current SCCA Competition license, or a history of tracking events with SCCA or SCCA recognized organizations such as PCA, NASA, CHIN, BMW, PBOC, etc; or
      2. Hold a current SCCA PDX License; or
      3. Hold an SCCA PDX log book that indicates the ability to 'solo' and has successfully completed at least 3 SCCA PDX events; or
      4. Has been approved to drive solo by any of the following HPDE schools: Apex, Drivers Edge, Chinn, Eagles Canyon, Texas World, Edge Addicts.
      5. Receive an entry waiver from the Event Chief Driving Instructor.
    • If you do not meet the requirements of 1-4 above, you can request an entry waiver by contacting the Chief Driving Instructor, Brad Flack ([email protected]). All drivers approved for participation who do not meet 1-4 above and who don't have and entry waiver will need to choose the Track Event (TE) option when registering. TE drivers will have an instructor assigned to them for the day. Log Books will be provided at registration. The log books will be filled out after each session and can be used toward PDX licensing.
*Your AMB transponder must be compatible with our timing system. If you're not sure, please email Brad Flack ([email protected]) for clarification.

Interesting day of track sessions.
First 2 sessions I was 5-6 seconds off my normal time of 1:31.xx .. Thought it was my tires. Actually the first session, I did not get a clean lap, either being passed (more) or passing someone which takes away from a good run time. Second session, I don't know, I was just off.

Third session (video below), after lunch, so I had time to sit back and look at what I was doing and relax. Decided to put the lap timer away and concentrate on the driving instead of the clock. Got somewhat better, but had a much better time.

My best time was the 9th lap in the 4th session. Will have to edit video and post that. Still my favorite thing to do with my clothes on. :)
