I wasn't sure exactly where this question was best placed. However, long story short I had my head refinished and a performance gasket / studs installed for $3500 (Got gouged on the gasket/studs letting them purchase the parts, more on this later). Six months after this the gasket seemed to blow again, took it to a Ford dealer this time instead of a smaller shop. They told me the block was out of spec and likely should have been replaced instead of the head being refinished. They also informed me stock gasket and studs were installed back into the car and not the $1000 worth of performance gasket/studs that I was charged for. Ford dealer replaced the motor for $8500 out the door which felt like crap. Bought the car for around $20,000 with 35K owe around $12,000 now and had to spend $8500 on it... I guess the motor has 0 miles on it now. Anyway, I also had a pretty poor experience with the Ford dealer. A few specific things not related to the motor replacement that I had asked for were completely ignored. The Service Manager didn't care to hear what I was telling him and never took any notes for the things I was asking which is probably why it wasn't done. I got the car back and immediately noticed these things and he told me well I can get it "back" in - in two weeks. ... Thought to myself that's funny, the work you did isn't complete, why am I having to wait?
Sorry for the rant and not so short story.
Main Problem - Got my car back and took it to a car wash, of course it rained the very next day. The next time I took it out for a drive and took some hard corners / accelerated / braked hard I felt some liquid drop down from my pedal area onto my feet. I immediately freaked out and pulled over. It's very hard to see up in there but I can see where my right foot would touch the center part of the car by the pedals there was a wet mark from where the water fell down. I told my Ford Service Manager and he wanted to tell me it would have nothing to do with the motor replacement and I'd be charged if they find that it was not. I personally find it hard to believe this randomly occurred right after they had the whole bay ripped apart. I'm not sure if there is some rubber grommet or something for wiring or a plug / plastic molding that was removed and not put back on correctly. Just trying to figure out what could possibly let water into that section of the car so I can take a look myself before spending more money.
For anyone wondering more about the motor replacement. I believe the entire problem to start from my serpentine belt tensioner failing causing the car to boil all the coolant and go into limp mode. The car was never the same after that incident. It was tuned on E30 for a bit and 91 for most of its life with Intercooler, DP, Exhaust. The max boost on the toon was around 22.5/23 that I ever saw on the tuner itself. Nothing blew out the motor or had any visible mechanical error. Had gasket just blew twice in a row.
Sorry for the dirty floor boards.
