Hey guys, i installed the MBRP catted downpipe 2 days ago and just today the check engine light popped up. The company said that tuning is not required and no lights will come up. I'm surprised it didnt pop up as soon as i installed the car if it was gonna pop out anyway. Is it safe to drive the car with the light on? and is tuning the car my only option right now? because i dont want to void the warranty.
I have a 2020 eco boost mustang and installed a down pipe and on the Ford app it’s saying that I have a misfire is that part of the down pipe that causing it ? Bcz I don’t have a tune ?

Wait, what? your running a after market down pipe without a tune?

Get a tune

That being said. The mis fire can be a whole multitude of things. Have you checked your spark plug gaps?, how many miles they done? Any other mods? Boost leak. Bad fuel. Blown head gasket. Blow by and so on

Yeah as said could very well be a boost leak. I would remove down pipe and take it straight back to the dealer.

this is the message I get on the Ford app

The engine system has detected a misfire fault. This can result in excessive exhaust temperatures that could damage the catalytic converter or other vehicle components

You probably got P0420 catalyst efficiency below threshold. I got the same thing on a BBK catted downpipe. Most high flow cats are 200 cell while OEM ones are usually 400 cell. Most high flow ones will pop the CEL. You should be fine to drive the car. You can get an O2 spacer for the downstream sensor to get rid of the code.
So I got a cvf downpipe off of American muscle for my 2016 ecoboost got a check engine light today. I looked at the one I got it was a 200 cell catted downpipe. Do you think the check engine light is that or something else?

Get a code reader to be sure. My downstream O2 sensor set off a CEL after adding a spacer. I cleaned the sensor which worked for a few months, the it threw the code again. I replaced the sensor with a Ford OEM unit. No codes or griping since.

I was able to install the o2 sensor while pipe was on the car, albeit it was extremely tight. another 1-2mm less play and I wouldn't of been able to do rotations on it to twist, but it did work for me on the car.

but smart, its easier to do it while off. I just jacked up a wheel and installed it in driveway took 10 mins
I have the cvf catted downpipe with the OEM 2.25 connection being installed on Tuesday and it will connect to the mbrp race series cat-back for a full turbo back system. Anyone get a CEL with the cvf catted dp? if I get the CEl what spacer do I need?

According to Bama, the OTS tune will work with either the OEM or high flow cat so no revision is needed.
I'm considering buying the CVF Catted downpipe... After installing it and running the car, do you recommend it?? It's one of my next mods I want to consider. I've already added Ford Performance Tune, Roush Air Intake, Turbosmart Dual Blow Off Valve and want to look into the downpipe... Do you recommend the CVF??
