Do you regret not getting the performance package?

If I had to guess, I'd say maybe 10% of the used EcoBoost listings I've looked at have the performance package. That's currently the number 2 option I'm looking for after Lightning Blue for a color. I think the car will handle better, be a little quicker with the 3:55 gear and look better with the 19" wheels. I'm not a fan of the all black wheels but I can live with them.

Does anyone regret not getting this package?

Nah. Not at all, I bought entire steeda struts shocks, springs, sway bars, camber plates, upgraded billet mounts and all for like 1500.

I really like my 3.31 rear end with my ford performance a lot! Ido highway 99% of times so it really saves the gas and it’s a very nice rear endw the tune.

I don’t really care about the little boost guage above radio, I keep that on my dash.
I bought gt take off brakes, all 4. All rotors, calipers, brake lines and pads!!, with 800 miles on them for 275 dollars.

so tossed those on, I’m around 2k for a far superior than their kit I feel. Worked out great. Don’t feel like I’m missing anything at all.

My thought when purchasing my eco where in line with FreedomPenguin.
My only requirements when I shopped for the car were that it had to be new, non-PP, have the A10, and must not be black or white. Found a 19 Kona blue base for 19K and couldn’t be happier!

Want to hear something crazy? Last year feb 20 of 2020 I found a dealer with a grabber blue 2017 eco premium w 5 miles that was on showroom entire time for 2 years.

34.5 window sticker. I got it for 21.4k before tax, 23k after tax.

Full mfr warranty started that day. Got new battery etc. it was like a time capsule, took to my dealer about battery they was like it’s a 17 it’s warranty is almost over

til they scanned vin,oh wow. It was just started/sold. The battery tested at like 115cca lol

downfall is due to it being 2 years despite never being sold and untitled, it was not eligible for a new car loan, my company made it a used car loan. Lame due to age of car

Don't regret it at all, when I starte shopping i wanted a base trim manual PP, to me that's was the lightest most performance oriented Eco you could get. I enjoy backroads spirited driving on the weekends, so the suspension and brake upgrades were well worth it to me. So much so ive never felt like the car has needed more suspension to put the power down or stay composed in the corners, now I'm not a race car driver by any means and I'm sure I'm not driving at the limit so it works for me.

I came from only driving pickups so the stiff ride of this car felt soft to me.

Now that I use the Mustang to tow a small trailer, it's almost like having a towing package, and the MT-82 is my tow haul mode (y)

Been doing some research and found a proprietary Ford Order Guide for the 2016 models. It states that the base V6 model comes with a 3.15:1 diff, then it moved on to the Ecoboost where it states

"Equipment Group 100A
ALL MUSTANG V6 CONTENT PLUS:
MECHANICAL:
3.31:1 Limited Slip Rear Axle"

Mine has everything in that Group listing, along with the interior and wheel package, so that's kinda cool if what I'm reading is accurate.

No mention of an upgraded radiator or 3.55:1 axle in the 2016 PP.

"EcoBoost Performance Package3 (upsized rear sway bar and heavy-duty front springs on fastback only; n/a with optional wheels, Pony Package, or spare wheel and tire)"

This contradicts what I've read in various online magazine tests & reviews of '16 Ecoboosts. Was the 3.55:1 ratio a separate/additional option AFTER the basic PP above?

I think your document is incomplete. Yes, the base eco in 2016 came with the 3.31:1 differential. The PP overrode that. For some reason I've seen a LOT of conflicting documentation with Ford logos on it that says all kinds of things about the PP Ecoboosts, but in reality from what I've seen they're all the same before their owners start to personalize them.
I bought my 2017 in late 2016 and was looking for a 2016 PP car.

My first EB was a 2015 Base PP and my current EB is a 2018 Premium 201A. Do I regret not getting the PP package for my 2018? Not at all. Even on the 2015 I ended up replacing most of the suspension pieces, the bigger radiator is nice, but on my 2018 here in Florida it has never come close to overheating no matter how I push it, and if it did become a problem I would go with an oil cooler anyway. The only thing I would like in my 2018 of the major PP pieces is the 3.55 Torsen differential, but its not a huge difference from my 3.31 now, and if I was going to change it out I would probably go with the 3.73. The rest of it I've either installed a better aftermarket part, or obtained the PP part (center gauges, strut tower braces, GT brakes) as takeoffs and installed. When I purchased the 2015 there wasn't much of an aftermarket and nothing in terms of takeoff parts, which is why I opted for the PP then and opted not for the 2018.

See i have lasik in my eyes and bright lights hurt them or any lights really at night. I have everything on dimmest settings; screen I black out sometimes when long drives. The PP gauges look cool but the pics I see they are illuminated kinda bright. Not sure if they dim super dim; if they was as dim as the radio buttons at night I could prob handle it.

does the gauge change color like buttons or is it orange?

that’s one reason I won’t get digital dash, just more brightness, I like the analogs a lot

The digital dash and the center gauge pod both do dimming. The gauge pod does change color as long as you have color changing ability otherwise you will get the default white.

Hello,

I’m new to the site. I just purchased today a 2019 eco boost with the performance package.
It was still sitting on the lot and got a great deal. It has the premium interior as well. :) I was told by the dealer that the FP ecu would void my warranty. That doesn’t make sense to me
Thoughts ?

Congratulations of your new car! The FP tune will not void your warrant, your dealer obviously is not on board with Ford! The only stipulation Ford has is that the FP tune must be installed by a dealer or ASE certified technician. Also note that you do not have to purchase the FP tune from ford, you can purchase it through a vendor for much less money, like LMR, CJ Pony,AM, etc.

I heard that the FP tune would not void the 3/36 bumper to bumper when installed by Ford authorized technicians, but that an extended warranty IS a problem. Can anyone confirm/deny that based on real world, not internet hearsay?

That would be my take on it, but I have no proof. Hell, my local dealers wouldn't even back the 3/36 on anything mechanical. It's all about having a good dealer.
