Emergency Brake Must Be Broke

Ok, my girl keeps saying Found On Road Dead.... She is not a fan of my ride....
So today I pulled my emergency brake today and something gave, it has no tension and will not engage the brake. Now I throw in gear to so it won't roll due to manual transmission. I cannot find much online about this, most post refer to adjusting the E brake.
Anybody had this issue? Got my car up on jacks but I don't see anything visibly going on.
I hope I can fix this myself!

Thanks advance!

havent looked at the breaks on my mustang but on the dodge dart i had before the ebrake mechanism on the rear calipers have these rubber boots that cracked and let a ton of dirt into the mechanism and that locked it up on that car. burned completely thru a brake rotor, the disk was less than a 16th thick and cracked off, the ebrake failed 4 hours from home and i just powered thru and figured i would fix it later

probably not your problem but if everything else is fine maybe check the calipers themselves
I am thinking the issue is closer to the EB handle, it is like it's just free. Fingers crossed! Going to look for some videos or something that tells me best way to access the area under the boot of EB handle.

It looks like it is somewhere around the adjustment nut next to resonator. If I only had a Y pipe, can't get my car high enough but I can feel everything is loose.
Going to take it to a Mustang place in Clearwater where my coworker takes his 2002 GT to. I think the bolt came off... Will see...
