The 2020 HPP is 1 CC (chubby cheerleader) heavier than a standard EB?

Am I crazy or is the HPP 139 lbs heavier than my 2015-2020 EB and weight distribution went from 52/48 to 53/47? How is that possible?

2015-2017 Ford Mustang EcoBoost
Curb weight: base model 3,532 lbs (* NOTE: With Premium options and PP larger wheels, brakes and radiator, etc the PP weight is a few pounds heavier)
EcoBoost weight distribution is 52/48 front-to-rear.

2018-2020 Ford Mustang EcoBoost gained a couple of pounds,
Curb weight, fastback automatic 3,535 lbs.

2020 HPP
Curb weight, fastback automatic 3,671 lbs.
The weight distribution is now 53/47, according to Ford.

The only way to know for sure is to weigh the car. I would say the 10spd auto be has to be at least 100lbs heavier than the manual or 6dpd auto.

There have been folks on this forum that have weighed their base Ecoboosts and they have come in in the mid 34xxlb range.

I don't think Ford is very consistent with how they define curb weight.

Good point, if the 10 auto transmission is the difference I would expect the manual trans to weigh the same as previous years and therefore have the same 52/48 weight distribution. the HPP manual is still 100 lbs heavier than the 2015 EB Auto at 3532.

You may be right about Ford's inability to accurately calculate curb weight because Ford media shows the standard EB Auto weighs 7lbs less (3,535) than the Manual (3,542) while the HPP auto weighs 39 lbs more (3,671) than the manual (3,632).

2020 Curb weight
fastback manual EB/3,542 lbs. HPP/3,632 lbs.
fastback automatic EB/3,535 lbs. HPP/3,671 lbs.

This article has the curb weight of a loaded 2015 EB/PP manual with Recaro buckets at 3657 which is in line with the HPP curb weight. The strut brace alone is 10 lbs extra on the HPP. I just added the Bullitt strut brace and that is 10 lbs.

I guess this means that all PP/HPP Premium are over 100 lbs heavier than the standard EB. This puts the weight distribution on a PP and HPP at 53/47 vs the standard EB 52/48.

Where do find the empty weight ? I’ve looked at my “paper work “ but it only shows the max weight.
Do you mean curb weight? That information is published with the specs and can be found online. The published curb weight is only for the base model and does not include curb weight for premium or options. The 2020 curb weight includes the base models for the standard EB and HPP.

I have a 6MT HPP with the handling package and I drove it to the transfer station and with about 3/4 tank it weighed 3620. The HPP cars have bigger sway bars as well and the HP cars even bigger ones in the back.
Thanks for the information. Do you have the premium with the B&O system? What other options?

You are very close to Ford's published curb weight for the base model.

2020 HPP Curb weight
fastback manual 3,632 lbs.

The increasing weight of the Ecoboost mustang, especially in PP form, since the original base model in 2015, probably explains why the 2015 base probably had the best 0 -60 times.
(Until the 10-speed auto evened up the score).
It also explains why Aussie delivered models (all being PP optioned and heavier) and maybe some Euro RHD versions, are never able to achieve the same acceleration times as US versions.
Well, not exactly. This article shows a 0-60 at 5.2 for a 2015 Premium PP Auto with basically every option that my car has except adaptive cruise. These early Valencia cars were the fastest EB's ever tested until the re-tuned EB came out in 2018 I believe? I have an October 2014 Valencia engine. I personally think the early Valencia engines have a more aggressive factory tune based on the increasing 0-60 times from 2014-2017. The early 2014 cars were the fastest and the 2017 the slowest. The 2014 results are nearly identical to 2018 results despite the 10 spd and more torque.

Here is a 2018 PP Auto that was nearly identical to the 2015 PP Auto results. So if the 2018 PP with a 10 spd and 350tq has identical results as the 2015 PP Auto 6 spd that would mean the early 2014 Valencia engines had a different OEM tune right?

I have a 2015 Premium Performance Package convertible with the six seed auto. I took it to a scale and it came in right at 3,800 pounds. I suppose that's not too bad for the heaviest car in the Ecoboost segment?
C&D tested the same car and curb weight was nearly identical at 3796.
