Hi everyone,
My Eco's been at the Ford dealership for over a week now for a faulty purge valve and I just had a call today and they explained that they can't work on my car under warranty because of "aftermarket hoses" so because of that, I'm taking my car home and working on it myself (I think I know what the issue is but I'm completely open to suggestions as I'm just a backyard mechanic).
I've had some other Eco owners discuss their own purge valve issues, and I've read some threads discussing the purge valve stuff, it seems like a fairly common issue to our cars in particular. The service guy I spoke couldn't really accurately relay what the mechanic was telling him so I couldn't get a solid name on what "aftermarket part" was causing them to be unable to work on my car, but my guess is the BOV I installed (Turbosmart Kompact Shortie Dual Port) is the part causing the warranty trouble bc in order to install it, you need to remove a part of the factory hose and replace it with the boost reference adapter and a aftermarket rubber hose, the hoses being directly connected to the purge valve.
My current "repair game plan" is to check & re-tighten every hose, every clamp associated with the bov, then check if the issue remains, if it does, ill order another OEM purge valve (FR3Z-9G297-H) and then try from there.
TL;DR
Has anyone else run into purge valve issues while having a recirc bov installed?
Does anyone think the BOV is the culprit? Could a BOV damage a purge valve?
So far 2 others I know of have had issues with their purge valves, all with the exact same bov as me.
